Bill Snibson, a cockney costermonger is unveiled when he arrivs with his sweetheart Sally. The family and guests are horrified! The Duchess, his Aunt, is determined to make a gentleman of him and to separate him from Sally, but Bill has other ideas. Convinced that Bill will be better off without her, Sally decides to leave but an old Hareford family friend offers to help her become 'fit and proper' for Bill.
